New from Elodie Parkes and Siren Publishing: Candle Magic

NOTE from author:

Thank you for hosting ‘Candle Magic’ on your blog today. Thank you so much to all my readers. I write from my heart so you have a piece of it. Happy Holidays.

About the book:

I got the idea for this story very late at night as I shivered in a sudden downpour of rain on my way home from work. It was still summer at the time and although late, the sky was still quite light. That happens in Britain where I live and often dawn comes in at around 3.30 a.m. How do I know this? I’m often still up writing or playing around with graphics for book covers. I’m lucky because my day job is in shifts so often I can grab a few hours’ sleep and still get to work on time.

Here’s the blurb:

When Simi finds a pretty old candlestick among the discarded props in the company storeroom, she never imagines it will grant her dearest wish. There’s something mysterious about the carved candlestick, but Simi is drawn to it. She’s saved a red candle from a box she bought years ago in an antique shop, and intends to use the candlestick to hold the last candle and make her solitary Christmas lunch more festive. It’s Christmas Eve, there’s sleet in the wind, Simi slips, but Jason catches her. Who is Jason? Where has he suddenly appeared from in the night?

Simi looks into the eyes of this gorgeous man and sparks fly …

Erotic fantasy romance from Siren Publishing and Elodie Parkes

BookExcerpt

The mist parted. The sight of a man walking toward her captured her in a spell. Simi stared at him, unable to move.

He flowed slowly toward her, and then he was there in front of her, extending his arms to hold her. His cornflower blue eyes, fringed with dark lashes, filled with emotion. He smiled at Simi and she registered how handsome he was, how completely gorgeous he was, before magically she was in his arms. He held her close.

Gratitude surged through her. Her heart opened to soak up the love he gave her. His face close, Simi yearned for his lips on hers, and then—he kissed her. It charged her whole body with such a surge of raw sexual energy her pussy drenched her inner thighs. She drifted in a heavy fog of his kiss-induced lust.

The softness of his lips changed from a gentle, loving merging to a hungry searching as her tongue met his.

Naked in his arms, Simi pressed against his hard body, her clothes strangely gone. Yet she accepted that as ordinary when his hands swept over her skin and grabbed her ass to lift her against his body. Her stomach contacted the hard column of his erect cock, and she sighed into his mouth.

It is 1816. Anne Blackburn is a voluptuous thirty-two year old widow. Due to her family inheritance and the fortune left to her by her husband, she is a wealthy woman, and she moves in the social circles of London’s upper class.

Anne has sworn never to marry again. However, she cannot help yearning to find out more about the pleasures of the flesh. Her deceased husband was more father than lover but she has felt passion once—before she married over six years ago.

Edward Moore loved Anne and proposed to her but when he left London to seek his father’s blessing, Anne was approached by Lord Moore’s lawyer who told her to forget Edward. If she refused, Edward would be disinherited. When Alfred Blackburn asked for her hand in marriage, Ann accepted to set Edward free.

Now there is an artist in London with a mysterious patron. Mr. Guy Harper provides the ladies he paints with certain erotic extras. When Anne commissions a portrait from him, she gets more than she could have imagined in her wildest dreams.

But will her mistletoe ménage become a painful humiliation or the stepping stone into her very own happy ever after?

“Where have you been?” Edward snapped as he sprang to his feet.

Guy laid his hat and jacket on the chair on top of Edward’s then offered a conciliatory smile. “I have begun to seduce her, as you wished.”

Edward stared at the younger man. His face was flushed and beautiful with youth and happiness, and his eyes sparkled silver-blue like the snow under the crisp winter sun. He reached out and caressed Guy’s cheek, rasping his thumbnail against the stubble on Guy’s skin.

“How was she?”

Guy glanced at his feet and cleared his throat.

“Guy?” Edward’s heart pounded hard beneath his white cotton shirt as an idea began to unfurl in his mind. “Guy?”

The artist met his gaze and smiled. “She is…as you described. Beautiful, cultured, well-mannered. Though she was also…”

“Tell me!” Edward was surprised at his own tone. He had sent Guy out to Anne, knowing she was a widow now. She had been widowed eighteen months, in fact, but he’d been abroad when her husband had passed, and only returned six months since with Guy in his employ. As a widow, previously married to a much older man, Edward hoped she would now be ripe for the picking. All his memories of Anne were of a tender, voluptuous, sensual woman ready for marriage and mating. He had held back from taking her during their courtship in spite of his burning desire to make her his as soon as possible. He had been prepared to wait until they were safely wed before he bedded her, but then she had given herself to another. A fat, greasy businessman who was surely no match for her elegance and beauty. Yes, it was true that she had no family name to match his own, but he had not cared a jot for that. After seeing his parents’ loveless marriage, Edward had harbored no intentions of marrying for money and social connections. Perhaps he had been a romantic, a dreamer, a fool. Yes…he had been a fool because he had believed that she loved him as much as he loved her. She had broken his heart in two.

As he would hers. With Guy’s assistance.

“I went to her home as agreed, Edward. It didn’t take much to encourage her to allow me to sketch her.” Guy didn’t finish his sentence but Edward knew what he meant. Anne had allowed the artist to see her naked, in all her milky-white-skinned beauty as he had longed to do. Well, he would see her thus. And soon. But it might take one or two more visits from Guy first.

“But you did not…”

Guy shook his head. “No I did not take her fully. I kissed her and caressed her and tasted her. She really has the sweetest flavor, like honey-cake and madeira wine.” Guy licked his lips and Edward pulled him into his arms and kissed him hard. He pressed his tongue between Guy’s teeth and plundered the younger man’s mouth, desperate to find some trace of Anne. Guy responded to him, running his hands down over Edward’s behind, and squeezing his firm cheeks until Edward knew that they’d continue this until they were both spent.

Edward pulled away and stared into Guy’s eyes. “Will she surrender? Do you really believe she will?”

Something flashed across Guy’s face and Edward wondered at it for a moment. Was it guilt? Regret?

“I believe that she will, Edward. I truly believe that. She is lonely and needy. I don’t think she has been loved as a woman should. She is not like the others.” His golden eyebrows met above his aquiline nose as he frowned. “They are grasping, clawing, and it’s all about them. But Anne Blackburn, she responded so sweetly and so tenderly that it was hard to leave her. The others I could not wait to escape from once I had attended to their needs but with Anne…”

Edward swallowed hard. He could see in Guy that same affection growing for Anne that he had once felt. Was it because Guy was his lover and they were in some way similar in their tastes? Guy did not usually lust after women. He had lain with women of the ton for Edward’s sake so that his plan would work, but when they took a woman together it was Edward who desired the female presence most. Guy just seemed to go through the experience to please his patron. So Edward was surprised that Guy actually seemed to be attracted to Anne. Yet he should not be, because she truly was beautiful in an innocent yet worldly way. She was a walking oxymoron of naïve experience and virtuous passion—a spring waiting to be tapped like the one in Bath which offered restorative properties and improved health to those who drank from it. Would Edward’s mind and body improve under Anne’s tender ministrations? Lord knew that he had not been right since he lost her. He had never again experienced that same joy and hope that she had given him during their brief courtship. And though he knew that he wanted to hurt her, he also knew that a life without her in it would be a dull life indeed. But crush her he would to avenge himself for the way she had torn his heart and life to shreds.

“Undress, Guy.” Edward pulled off his own clothes and watched as his lover did the same. When they were both naked, Edward pulled Guy to him and kissed him again, this time more tenderly than before. Guy ground his hips into Edward so that their erections met and their mutual arousal intensified.

Edward reached around his lover and slipped his finger between the artist’s tight buttocks, sliding it into the tight heat that he longed to penetrate with his cock. Guy gasped against Edward’s mouth. “Let me suck you first.”

“Yes.” Edward allowed Guy to lower him to the bed, then he surrendered to the hot mouth and tongue of his lover, his pleasure all the sweeter because he knew that the very same lips had so recently caressed the woman he loved.

Exchange student Drew Clarke should be happy. With a once in a lifetime opportunity to travel all over Australia he shouldn’t have any worries. But when his straight roommate who he has a crush on kisses Drew then freaks, he’s left without his only friend. Alone during the holidays and in a foreign country, Drew finds himself lonely. When he meets surf lifesaver, Scott; he thinks he’s found a distraction in six feet of easy on the eyes male. But when Scott wants to keep Drew in the closet, Drew’s had enough. Will his sexy friend and co-worker Chris be able to pull off a miracle for Drew and make his holiday happy?

“You alright, mate?”

I pushed back my sunglasses and peered up at the man standing in front of me in the sand, my eyes watering as I stared into the intense summer sunset.

“I’m sorry?”

“I asked if you were alright.”

When the owner of the voice blocked the sun with his body, I drew in a breath. Hello, Clubbie, I thought. As in everything Australian, the nickname for Surf Lifesavers was short and sweet.

I let my gaze slowly roam the length of the man’s tall broad-shouldered body, noting the uniform of baggy red board shorts and yellow and red long sleeved top. Tan, with a friendly smile, he had shaggy brown hair, which hung in his eyes until he raised the red baseball cap and pushed it back. This guy was every beach goer’s wet dream.

When I realized I was staring, I shut my mouth with a click, wincing when I bit my tongue.

“Yeah, sorry. I was just watching the waves.”

His friendly smile morphed into a cheeky grin. “A Yank, huh? Usually I find Japanese tourists and Danish exchange students sitting on my beach. You’re my first Yank.”

The dimples that appeared with his grin made me want to yank something all right. When he stared at me expectantly, I realized he was waiting for me to respond. I wasn’t shy, just tongue tied by the six feet plus of virile male.

He broke eye contact and skimmed the beach with a practiced sweep of his gaze. “Well, hope you have a good night, Yank. The beach is not patrolled after five o’clock so make sure you stay out of the waves, right?”

“Right,” I muttered to his back as he continued on down the beach, picking up equipment. He carried it inside the low squat building that perched above the beach and disappeared.

Maybe the next few weeks being stuck in town while everyone went home for Christmas wouldn’t be so boring.

Book Two of the Minnesota Christmas Series

The way to a man’s heart is on a sleigh.

Arthur Anderson doesn’t want anything to do with love and romance, and he certainly doesn’t want to play Santa in his mother’s library fundraising scheme. He knows full well what she really wants is to hook him up with the town’s lanky, prissy librarian.

It’s clear Gabriel Higgins doesn’t want him, either—as a Santa, as a boyfriend, as anyone at all. But when Arthur’s efforts to wiggle out of the fundraiser lead to getting to know the man behind the storytime idol, he can’t help but be charmed. The least he can do is be neighborly and help Gabriel find a few local friends.

As their fiery arguments strike hotter sparks, two men who insist they don’t date wind up doing an awful lot of dating. And it looks like the sleigh they both tried not to board could send them jingling all the way to happily ever after.

Warning: Contains a feisty librarian, a boorish bear, small town politics, deer sausage, and a boy who wants a doll.

SR Gabe lets go_edited-1

It was kind of cute, Arthur decided as he dressed the steaks and arranged them in the hot cast iron, the way a good orgasm knocked Gabriel on his ass.

He was adorable all around, really, and sexy as fuck with a mouth on his dick. It was all that repression and fussiness—if Arthur had known nerds let go so hard, he’d have been cruising libraries years ago. And those legs. Yes, Gabriel’s height made Arthur feel like a squat little gnome, but when they lay down, none of it mattered, and those goddamn legs were the sexiest things Arthur had ever seen. Tall geeks at the library. Take a fucking note.

Except deep down he knew this wasn’t a nerd thing or a tall-guy thing or a librarian thing. This was a Gabriel thing.

He had a Gabriel thing, a big one, and it scared the shit out of him.

He wasn’t going to run, though. Yeah, he was freaked out over how much he liked this guy, but after seeing Gabriel with Paul, he couldn’t let anyone else have his Gabe because he was too busy being a dumbfuck.

He wouldn’t put it past Paul to have done this on purpose.

God, he’d been an ass to Paul, and he felt lousy about it. He hadn’t connected like this to Paul because he really was only a buddy he’d fucked. Arthur still didn’t know exactly what Gabriel was to him. He simply knew he couldn’t stand to be without him.

Okay. So he knew exactly what Gabriel was to him. He had to get used to it, was all.

Making him dinner seemed like a good start. So he did his damnedest to make it the best goddamn meal he’d ever made for anyone in his life.

He’d cooked deer steak in the oven plenty of times—the secret was a hot pan and patience mixed with a significant bit of attention. Gabriel had a few vegetables he could sauté and some sad lettuce in his fridge, but Arthur wanted more, so he texted Frankie, who made a run to the grocery and muni for him. Arthur met him in the garage, Frankie appearing from the truck where Marcus waited inside with the engine running.

“Thanks.” Arthur took the bags from Frankie, trying not to feel weird, except he felt all awkward and exposed. God help him if Frankie wanted to stand there and give pointers. Except he kind of wanted him to.

Jesus, this shit was impossible.

Frankie kissed him on the cheek. “You’ll be fine. He likes you.”

Arthur wanted to argue, to say no he wouldn’t be fine, to ask how Frankie knew, to beg to be allowed to run away. He couldn’t, though—run away. He’d promised Gabriel he wouldn’t.

What in the hell was wrong with him? Why was he being such a freaking baby about making dinner?

Frankie had his you’re so adorable look on. “Sweetie, do you want us to come in for a minute?”

Yes. “Better not. He doesn’t have pants on.”

Frankie’s adorable expression turned into a cheeky grin. “Good for you. Go make your man some dinner.”

With a swat on Arthur’s backside, Frankie retreated to the truck.

Gabriel was still asleep as Arthur tossed a salad and fried up some potatoes. It was good, because it gave him time to work on his freak-out, but it also gave him ample opportunity to wind himself up. Which was why when Gabriel appeared in the doorway, sleep-rumpled and wearing sweats, Arthur startled and nearly dropped the salad bowls.

“Scared the crap out of me. Sorry.” He put the bowls on the counter.

Gabriel leaned on the doorway, still looking drowsy. And lots of awkward. “You shouldn’t have let me sleep. I could have helped.”

“You seemed like you needed it. Besides, I said I’d cook, right?” He reached for the wine, then stopped. “Shit. I should have let it breathe or whatever.”

Smiling, Gabriel took it from his hands and opened a drawer. “I’m not fussy.” His smile faded, though, as he picked up a corkscrew. “You’re all nervous and awkward. Are you going to do this every time we make out?”

Arthur reached to get glasses for the wine from a cupboard, only to realize he’d already brought some down. “I…I’m not good at this stuff.”

“What, people?”

Arthur swallowed and let out an unsteady breath. “People I like.”
